My wife, Emma, has always had a unique style and incredible confidence that made her stand out. But one day, after a clerk at a lingerie store cruelly told her she wasn’t attractive enough for a job, Emma’s self-esteem took a hit.
She was upset when she got home, and I was furious. I couldn’t believe someone could be so mean.
To get back at the clerk, I called my friend Mike, a talent scout, and we came up with a plan. The next day, we returned to the store. Mike pretended to shop while chatting with the clerk about modeling. He then told her, “Sorry, you’re not what we need,” and turned to Emma, telling her she’d be perfect for a modeling campaign.
Emma smiled, and the sales assistant was left embarrassed, getting a taste of her own harshness.
While Emma felt a bit bad for her, I wanted her to remember that her confidence and worth should come from within, not from others’ opinions.
