“We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Cor 5:20)
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This Lent, the Lord offers us a chance to prepare our hearts to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, the foundation of our faith. This mystery grows within us as we open ourselves to its power with freedom and generosity.
1. The Paschal Mystery and Conversion
Christian joy comes from embracing the Good News of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Believing in this truth calls us to reject selfishness and accept life from God’s love. Let us fix our eyes on Christ’s outstretched arms and allow His love and mercy to cleanse us.
2. The Urgency of Conversion
Prayer is vital in Lent as it helps us respond to God’s love. It’s not a duty but a necessary dialogue with God, who always loves us. Prayer softens our hearts, leading us to conversion, and this season offers an opportunity to listen more deeply to God’s voice.
3. God’s Will to Dialogue
This time for conversion should inspire gratitude, not be taken for granted. God’s desire to save us through Jesus reflects His love, even for His enemies. This dialogue isn’t about superficial chatter but about an intimate, transformative relationship with God.
4. A Richness to Share
Putting the paschal mystery at the center of our lives means showing compassion for others, especially the innocent victims of violence, poverty, and injustice. Almsgiving helps build a better world, and it makes us more human. Let us consider a more just and inclusive economy, as we work for the common good.
I ask for Mary’s intercession to help us focus on the paschal mystery this Lent, be reconciled to God, and live as His disciples—salt of the earth and light of the world.
