It’s been 13 years since I last saw my daughter, but today I received a Christmas letter from her – my story.

Over a decade ago, I lost everything—my job, my family, and my sense of purpose—because I didn’t take myself seriously. After my repair shop failed, I fell into depression, unable to provide for my wife, Rebecca, and daughter, Harriet. Eventually, Rebecca left, taking Harriet with her. I sank deeper into despair and moved to a new city, working odd jobs just to survive.

Years later, I turned my life around, working my way up from a store cleaner to an administrator. Yet, I remained lonely, with no contact from my family. Then, one Christmas, I received a letter from Harriet. It had been 13 years since we’d spoken, but she found me, telling me she’d always wondered about me and still kept the stuffed bunny I gave her.

Harriet’s letter was a gift I never expected. I’ve missed her terribly, and now, after all these years, I have a chance to make things right. I’ve changed, and I’ll do everything to make her proud and reclaim the time we lost. This is my second chance at redemption.
